Is it encrypted? Secria

Which chat apps are encrypted?

Signal, WhatsApp and iMessage seal your chats by default, so only you and the people you message can read them. Messenger seals one-to-one chats. Telegram only does in Secret Chats. Instagram, TikTok and plain text messages aren't sealed.

Checked on 25 October 2026. 12 apps, 79 sources.

Made by Secria. We grade every app by the same rules. How we check

Sorted by how many parts are sealed by default, then by how many can be. Ties go A to Z.
